There are now over 700 community foundations in the US. Each helps build and strengthen its own community by encouraging and supporting local philanthropy and by connecting people and organizations who want to make a difference. The Community Foundation of East Mississippi is no different; CFEM is a tax-exempt public charity dedicated to improving the quality of life in a five county area, Lauderdale, Kemper, Neshoba, Newton and Clarke.
CFEM occupies a unique position, supporting and enhancing the wide variety of programs and initiatives required to maintain a vibrant and vital community. Acting as a natural convener of divergent interests, CFEM encourages cooperation and collaboration to move projects forward. Partnerships may include private and corporate foundations, businesses, civic groups, nonprofits, and local, state and federal agencies.
