Hampton D. Thames is President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens National Bank, where he leads one of Mississippi’s oldest and most respected community banks. With more than three decades of banking experience, Hampton has held numerous executive leadership positions within Citizens National Bank, guiding the organization’s continued growth while maintaining its longstanding commitment to serving the financial needs of communities across the region. He was named President and CEO in 2022 after serving as President and Chief Operating Officer.
Originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi, Hampton earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
Hampton is actively involved in the Meridian community, serving as Treasurer of Mississippi’s Junior Miss and as a member of the Rotary Club of Meridian and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. His passion for community service and leadership reflects his belief that strong partnerships create lasting opportunities for future generations.
As a member of the Community Foundation of East Mississippi Board of Directors, Hampton is committed to helping strengthen the region through strategic philanthropy and community investment. He joined the Board because he believes the Foundation is one of the community’s “hidden gems” and offers an opportunity to make a meaningful, positive impact throughout East Mississippi. Hampton and his wife, Michelle, reside in Meridian and are the proud parents of two sons, Davis and Will.
